One of the most anticipated product launches this year, the Mother, herself has finally granted our wishes for blushes! It's undoubtedly a grandiose collection packed with not only a wide range of blush shades but also, additional makeup products for a complete spring look. With all the hype pre-launch, it has us all wondering, do we need this? It's the year of the blushes and I'm very curious as to how these ones from Pat McGrath will stand up to the competition. If you are curious too, keep reading. 

The Pat McGrath Skin Fetish Divine Powder Blush retails for $38.00 USD and is available at Sephora, Pat McGrath and other retailers. 

I purchased these off the Pat McGrath site when the first launched and for the first time, I didn't have a good experience with the brand. The shipping took a long time and when the products finally arrived to me, one of my blush cases was completely empty. When I emailed customer service, they responded quickly and said they would send out a replacement but it took a whole other week to send out the replacement and shipping took an additional week. If I had purchased it from Sephora the week after the initial launch, I would have not only gotten my order sooner but if I had an issue, they would have solved the issue much faster. I feel like next time, I will just wait for the launch at Sephora because it would have been handled much faster. 

The powder blushes are housed in a small black lacquered compact with a button clasp. I'm a little disappointed that the compact isn't a magnetic closure like the eyeshadow compacts. This packaging doesn't feel as luxurious as the other products in the range. The packaging is, however, refillable. I like this because it is environmentally friendly, you can remove the blushes easily and put them into another compact if you like, and the refills will make it more affordable. Unfortunately, right now, there are no refills available. 

SHADES 

There are currently eight shades available and two different finishes - matte and shimmer. This is a pretty good starting range of shades for the brand and knowing Pat McGrath, these shades are going to be pigmented, which means they'll work for a wide variety of skin tones. The shade range also has a good mixture of different colors and tones. I look forward to seeing her expand this shade range in the future. The shades I chose are: 

Desert Orchid (shimmer) - This shade is a beautiful warm bronze with very fine gold pearl throughout. You can see the fine shimmers on the skin with this shade. 

Nude Venus (shimmer) - This shade is a warm peachy-pink with very fine gold pearl throughout. The pearl doesn't show up on the skin, it looks almost satin.

FORMULA 

These are extremely pigmented blushes, which shouldn't be a surprise because Pat McGrath never skimps on the pigment. These blushes have a rich and true-to-pan color, which exactly what you'd want in a blush. You really don't need much at all to get a noticeable flush. While this formula is very blendable, you can go overboard because the pigment is so intense. I recommend dipping very lightly into the pan and building the color. You can also use a dual-fiber brush to pick up less product and easier distribution on the face. 

These powder blushes hey are very silky, smooth, and soft. They will kick up excess powder when you dip your brush into the pan but the formula isn't dusty. These powder blushes have an ultra-smooth and creamy texture that really seamlessly blends into the skin. They don't emphasize texture or pores on the skin, even with the pearl throughout these blushes. While these are very creamy, they still behave very much like a powder and don't look like a cream on the skin, it just looks like a very seamless powder. 

These blushes last very well on the skin. I get over eight hours of wear out of these blushes without fading. These have been my go-to blushes when I know I'm going to have a long day because they don't easily fade or budge but they still look incredibly natural. Even the shades with the pearl don't migrate all over the skin, which is especially important for oily skin types. 

THE LOOK 

In this look, I am wearing Desert Orchid blush on my cheeks, as well as, some matte bronzer. You can see the sheen and glow the blush adds to my cheeks. 

FINAL THOUGHTS 

I've moved away from powder blushes pretty significantly these days. There are very few powder blushes that I find impressive and this is one of them! These blushes go beyond being a pigmented powder because the formula is so silky and creamy. The rich pigment provides a fresh and intense flush in an instant. These blushes really blend so seamlessly into the skin for a powder formula. I'm very impressed with the way these apply and wear on the skin. These are, as dreamy and luxurious as they are advertised to be. While pricey, with such a wide shade range and exceptional quality, I can't recommend these enough! I am definitely considering picking up a few more, although I really don't need another blush. These are very high-quality blushes that will last a long time. Plus, the fact that you will be able to purchase refills sometime soon, is very enticing. I have recently strayed away from using powder blushes because of the powdery way they appear on my skin but these ones blend in like a dream! These are a powder blush formula I can get behind! If you're normally a cream blush person, you need to try these. This formula really flatters every skin type!
